Photoshop (at least version 6 - I can't speak for later versions) does not import paths from a file. "Okay," I thought, "I'll get the SVG version, and copy the paths into Photoshop, getting super high quality paths." Right? Not quite.
All the things at Open Clip Art are available in raster (PNG) and vector (SVG) format. I found some shapes at the Open Clip Art Library that I wanted to use in Photoshop. Photoshop (Version 6.0, no less!) is still my favorite image editing app, but I've realized just how powerful path/shape layers with effects applied to them are. you'll see that pdf documents with graphics also might give you some love.I've been doing some graphic design work lately, and I've been trying to make a much better effort to do things using vector format rather than raster. it's only 8 minutes and might help if you are running into similar challenges. svg file to readable in expression design, then export to silverlight xaml for an application.

design understands various import and export format but sometimes your existing assets might not be directly importable. it is a great tool that i'm starting to be more and more familiar with. it led me along a path of creating some intense xaml design elements actually and i thought i'd share (in simpler form) the process i used.Įxpression design is a graphic tool that enables creating vector art that can then be exported to xaml (either WPF or silverlight).
